Through the Depths of Darkness

Bounced around, home to home New faces all round, but still he is alone Lonely child asks Where is mom? School to school, desk to desk A child seemingly failing every test You discarded him like he was trash Had no idea this pain would last Stronger than most, braver than the rest A product of hardship and survival Each day proves to be a new trial He continued to fight, to take life’s tests Right hook, left jab, spartan kick to the chest He was simply born better than the rest Served his country, Loud and Proud Still, life kept trying to knock him down Feeling like he can’t catch his breath But not to overcome, would simply feel like death Kicking & screaming you tried to drag him down Little did you know, he was born with a powerful crown A survivor he is, in the depth of his soul He rises from the ashes, a tale to be told Remember where you met him Don’t forget that broken soul Like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon His metamorph
